Ember Vanguard

Ember Vanguard is the kind of RPG that respects your brain. Battles hinge on a visible turn track, and half the fun is nudging enemies down the queue while pushing your own heroes up. Once it clicks, ordinary fights turn into little puzzles.

The story leans darker than the art style suggests, with a slow-burn plot about a fading order of knights. Voice work is limited but the writing carries it. Progression is generous enough that I never felt stuck behind a grind wall.

My only complaint is a menu-heavy inventory system. Everything else, from the class trees to the boss design, feels carefully built.
